The Great Blue Sea
What’s going on down below?
What’s down at the bottom?
What’s in the ocean blue?
We’ve been here for millennia,
but still no damn clue.
We’ve seen more of the attic
than of our own basement.
You’d think we’d see more,
just judging by our placement.
What’s down below?
What’s beneath the bay?
If I had to take a guess,
this is what I’d say…
There’s probably a nation
full of different life
with all different problems,
completely different strife.
They’d probably have no anger,
they’d have no jealousy.
They’d be completely happy
down in the Great Blue Sea.
Dolphins would be teachers,
whales would be singers,
sharks would give high fives
despite the lack of fingers.
There’d be no need for cops,
no need for guards,
because being fully safe
wouldn’t be so hard.
This would be the land
of the Great Blue Sea,
everyone would love,
and live so happily.
One day, a fish
will see a dangling hook
they’d call over their buddies
to come and take a look.
“What do we do?”
The fish would ask-
“Eat the worm!”
They’d say real fast-
The fish would take a bite
and try to have a taste-
ZIP! He’s yanked,
he;'‘s gone with haste.
They all start to panic,
they call out to their friend,
but it’s of no use;
he’s gone, he’s dead.
The Great Blue Sea
lost one of their own.
They start to realize
they’re not alone.
There’s something bigger,
something that feeds
from their friends, their family,
and all of their seed.
They start to get scared,
filled with fear,
they hire guards,
for danger is near.
They start to fight,
they start to suspect
that danger’s among them,
so who to respect?
Singers are preaching
about who they should love,
who they should kill,
and who to be afraid of.
Sharks start hunting,
no more high fives,
survival of the fittest,
just gotta stay alive.
Fish start dying,
and everyone forgets
that they shouldn’t be killing
over one man’s regret.
Now there’s a nation
full of different life
with all the same problems,
all the same strife.
Maybe they’re not so different
from what we can be.
Maybe they’re just like us
down in the Great Blue Sea…
